100 designs by late watch designer Gerald Genta up for auction – Robb Report

For the first time since his death ten years ago, the famous watch designer Gerald Genta‘S private safe must be opened and some of the treasures it contains will be auctioned off – with a twist.

Sotheby’s has announced that it will offer 100 original drawings of the “Picasso of Horology” in spring 2022 with NFT replicas of each physical work. Selected drawings and watercolors will present unpublished archival documents and multimedia biographical content. You can even bid on the designer’s iconic 1970 sketch for the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and its original Nautilus design for Patek Philippe. The works will be presented in three parts “”Gérald Genta: Icon of the sale of timeWhich will take place in Geneva, Hong Kong and New York from February to April next year.

After the series, collectors can then be in the running to acquire the designer’s personal Royal Oak from Audemars Piguet. Crafted from yellow gold and stainless steel, this unique timepiece will be included in Sotheby’s semi-annual auction in Geneva. The sale takes place in May 2022 and will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the model of its release. Four rare Genta oil paintings will also be auctioned off in the final sale.
